About Ansião

Ansião is a municipality in the Leiria district of Portugal. The town is located in the fertile valley of the River Alcoa, close to the Serra da Failhosa. The municipality has a population of 10,325 inhabitants and covers an area of 55.06 km². The town of Ansião grew around a 11th-century castle, which was built to defend the frontier against the Moorish invaders. The castle has views over the valley and the Serra da Failhosa.
