About Seixal

Seixal is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of ​​42.79 km2 and a population of 132,264 inhabitants. The municipality is composed of 6 parishes, and is located in the district of Setúbal. The municipality of Seixal is located in the south-eastern part of the district of Setúbal, on the left bank of the Sado River estuary. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Palmela, on the east by the municipality of Sesimbra, on the south by the municipality of Setúbal and on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. The relief of the municipality of Seixal is essentially flat, with a maximum altitude of 105 meters, located in the Serra da Arrábida. The climate of Seixal is temperate oceanic, with mild winters and cool summers. The economy of Seixal is based on industry, specifically the chemical, food, plastics and electronics industries. The municipality is home to several industries, including the shipyards of the Setúbal shipyards. Seixal is a municipality with a rich historical and cultural heritage. Of particular note are the archaeological remains of the Roman villa of Quinta do Anjo, the Convent of the Carmen, the Church of Santa Maria da Conceição and the Fort of São Julião da Barra.
